Memory Gallery in the Making!
A Call for Lake House Memories
Because the Ashfield Lake House is such a beloved community landmark and hangout, we would love to create a gallery page that features stories, memories, and photos submitted by Lake House patrons.
Do you have personal anecdotes, stories, or photographs of memorable experiences you’ve had at the Ashfield Lake House that you are willing to share with us?
We’re also interested in factual tidbits, curious rumblings, local lore, ghost stories, the characters who have owned it or worked on it, and historical information about the Lake House itself or the business enterprises it has housed.
Email us at lakehouse.ashfield@gmail.com if you’ve got a story to tell.
We would love to hear from you!

Peanut Night
Alan Surprenant
Peanut night! With spaghetti afterwards. Crunch crunch crunch. When the Pease’s owned the Lake House, Wednesday night was Peanut Night. All peanut shells had to go on the floor, not the bar top. Thus “crunch crunch crunch” when anybody walked in. Spaghetti and meatballs followed. An excellent protein group!
Additional note from Missy Morann Rustemeyer: A lot of places with wood floors did this because the oil in the peanut shells would shine and oil the wood floors. Keeping them in good condition.
